Our Segway lawnmowers can handle areas ranging from 800 square meters up to 10,000 square meters and are suitable for various property types, from small townhouses to large estates. Designed to manage complex lawn layouts, some models can easily navigate slopes of up to 45 degrees.
Physical boundary wires are no longer necessary for defining your lawn's perimeter. Initial setup involves using a smartphone to drive the mower around the lawn's edge, similar to a remote-controlled car. While the accompanying mobile app provides real-time feedback to ensure the base station is placed in a correct position. The system then utilizes a combination of EFLS, RTK and AI technologies to provide centimeter-level precision during operation.
Customers often believe that robot lawnmowers may not function effectively on sloped terrain. New models from Segway, specifically the X430 and X450 featuring four-wheel drive capability, are designed to easily handle slopes of up to 45 degrees and uneven ground.
The entire Segway range is highly regarded as being exceptionally safe. The machines utilize cameras to detect and avoid up to 200 different items commonly found on a lawn. Detected objects can include children, dogs, balls, bikes and hose pipes. If a child approaches or if the machine is touched, the mower and its blades will automatically stop.
Our robot lawnmowers are fully waterproof and carry an IP66 rating, making them suitable for Irish weather conditions. Each machine is equipped with a rain sensor that detects heavy rain. If it begins to rain heavily while cutting, the mower will automatically return to its base station. Doing so prevents grass clumping underneath the machine and ensures the lawn maintains its best possible appearance.
These mowers can handle properties with multiple lawn areas, such as front, back and side gardens. They are capable of moving between different zones as long as they can drive on and off the lawn surfaces. Specific models, like the new X4, are designed to navigate steep inclines up to a 45-degree angle, making them suitable for large properties, including areas up to one and a half acres.
In over 15 years of selling robotic mowers, we have not heard of or seen one being stolen. Our mowers are protected by a geofence, so if it is lifted or moved outside of its designated area, an alarm will sound. Each machine features a built-in GPS tracker that allows the owner to locate it anywhere in the world.
Running a mower for an entire year will cost you approximately €40 in electricity, while annual maintenance for the machine is roughly €150. For a machine costing between €1,000 and €3,000, regular servicing is recommended to ensure a long lifespan and trouble-free operation. Professional servicing is available through our technicians here at Douglas Forest and Garden.
The Segway Navimow product line starts at €1,049 and can reach approximately €3,300 for four-wheel-drive models capable of handling complex areas up to 5,000 square meters. Robotic mowers are noted to be more cost-effective per mow compared to traditional petrol machines. They eliminate the need for fuel and are designed to cut grass frequently and in small increments, which significantly improves lawn quality and maintenance over time.
