Configuring iMow Starting Areas is a quick and straightforward process. And once it’s done, you’re free to leave it on autopilot as often as you need. In addition, you can set it up to start at specific locations – not just when it exits the docking station. This is very useful when you have a large area to cut, and you want to get it done as efficiently as possible while ensuring the entire lawn is cut correctly. The iMow setting is called a ‘starting point’.
Configuring iMow Starting Areas
To reach the setting, go to the main menu on your iMow. Go to settings. From there, move over to installation – starting points. In settings, you can add a total of four starting points. You can choose how many times, on average, the iMow will cut a specific point. This is a helpful feature if you have areas of grass that are more exposed to light and water and which may grow faster (or slower, in the case of an area covered by shade). The setting also allows you to set up cutting areas in the back garden, for example, as well as the front (provided you have access through a side gate). The iMow finds the starting point using the perimeter wire used for guiding and setting boundary areas.
Storing your iMow in winter
Of course, during winter, it may be necessary to store your robotic lawnmower away to help preserve the battery. The first thing to do is deactivate the automatic mode. This is done in the menu settings by going to Commands – Then go to the Automatic settings (The large ‘A’ symbol), then set it to Off. You should see the ‘A’ symbol on the top right of the main menu screen is gone. With the battery fully charged, you can disconnect the docking station and remove it for storage. The docking station itself is fine to okay outside. If you would rather bring it in when it’s not in use, first ensure you have disconnected it fully from the mains. From there, follow the manual instructions to open up so you can disconnect the power cable and the two connectors for the perimeter cable. If you do disconnect these, make sure they are labelled so you know which one is positive and which is negative.
