Are you looking to find the best electric hedgetrimmer? We have a few Stihl trimmers that we can get behind. Stihl is one of our favourite manufacturers for power garden tools, and they’re always on our list. You can view our full list of hedgetrimmers, or read our overview below.
The Best Electric Hedgetrimmer
If you’re just doing some tidying and manicuring around the garden and yard, you’re not always going to need a heavily powered machine to get the job done. That opens up your options and allows you to consider a lighter, quieter device such as the Stihl HSA 56. This is an electric hedgetrimmer that uses Lithium-ion batteries. Their running time isn’t yet up to par with a petroleum-powered machine, but they have certainly improved. With a large AK 20 battery, you can get up to 100 minutes of runtime. With an AK10 Battery, you can expect a runtime of up to 50 minutes. Though if you’re doing a lot of heavy-duty work, expect a runtime of anywhere from 10 minutes up. Suffice to say, you won’t want one if you’re working eight hours a day, but it is perfect for doing touch-ups and light work, perhaps doing one section or hedgerow one day, and the rest the next day. If you prefer doing work in one go, you can always consider purchasing extra Stihl batteries.
A Long-Reach Option
The HLA 56 is perfect for light use and because of its lightweight (it’s only 2.9 kgs compared with 5kgs for the petrol-powered Stihl HS 45). Another battery-powered option with a long-reach is the HLA 65. This has a total length of 2.06 metres, meaning you can up high without always having to depend on a ladder. And when you have a ladder, this makes everything that much easier. New battery technology gives you much longer run times. For example, the AP100 allows a runtime of 72 minutes approximately. You can also use a battery backpack if you really want to go full electric. The AR 3000 backpack battery allows up to 800 mins runtime(!), making the HLA 56 a versatile option for anyone doing work, even professionals. This is an ideal option for large jobs, especially when noise pollution is a concern and you’re trying to keep that down. The HLA 65 can be folded when not in use to a length of 1.25 metres, meaning it can be stored in a shed or car boot easily without moving the seats.
